The new Samsung NC215S, is the netbook that all eco-geeks out there have been waiting for, for a long long time. Introducing the first solar-powered netbook in the world, Samsung unveiled recently it’s new device, that can extend impressively the battery life, using the sun.

The eco-friendly netbook has solar panels built on its lid which facilitates easier automatic charging. The netbook has an impressive overall battery life of around 14.5 hours. it has a 1 GB RAM and is powered by Intel ATOM N570 (1.66 GHz). It has LED display and has an effective anti-reflective coating on it, which is said to give very colorful and vivid images even in direct sunlight. The new 10 inch netbook cannot be charged completely using solar energy but with only two hours spent under the sun, it could preserve the charge for an hour.

This solar powered netbook was introduced with a vision to provide maximum performance with minimum emission of carbon dioxide. With the automatic inbuilt solar panels, the carbon dioxide emission into the atmosphere could be reduced significantly when compared to other exclusively electric- powered netbooks. The netbook is also made out of easily recyclable materials. Another interesting feature of this netbook is that one need not to wait 30 - 60 seconds for it to boot. It is said to provide a super-fast start with its Samsung Fast Start mode. It also has a keyboard with isolated island keys which prevents dirt buildup between the keys, in case you want to work with it on a sandy beach or a muddy forest.

Samsung would be introducing this new netbook in Russia and U.S in the first week of July and in Europe after that. The company has revealed that the price of the new solar powered netbook in U.S would be $399.
